Himetop is a project promoted by the Research Unit of History of Medicine, at the Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and directed by Luca Borghi (@).
Why the name Himetop? It is an acronym (HIstory of MEdicine TOPographical database), but it also reminds of Imhotep, the Egyptian “Father of Medicine” (fl. late 27th century BC).
The Himetop project focuses on the discovery and preservation of medical material memories as a bridge between scientific progress and humanistic understanding.
Since 2007, Himetop has grown from a local initiative into an international reference for topographical research in the history of medicine and healthcare.
