Agostina Pietrantoni’s Memorial Tablet

This marble memorial tablet – with a bas-relief of her profile – remembers the nun and nurse Agostina Pietrantoni who was killed in 1894 by one of the patients of the Hospital of Santo Spirito in Saxia. The tablet can be seen in one of the left chapels of the Church of Santo Spirito in Rome (Borgo di Santo Spirito). This is not the tomb (even if some relics could be preserved in it) because the body of saint Agostina Pietrantoni was initially guarded in the mother house of the Sisters of Divine Charity in Rome and then, in 2004, after her canonization was transferred to the church of her birthtown1.
