A marble tablet celebrating a Codivilla’s “first” in traumatology can be seen, beside the scientist’s monument, in a courtyard of the Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, in Bologna.
The italian inscription reads as follows: “IN QUESTO ISTITUTO / ALESSANDRO CODIVILLA / NEL 1902 / IDEO’ E PER PRIMO APPLICO’ / LA TRAZIONE DIRETTA / SULLO SCHELETRO / PONENDO LE BASI / DELLA MODERNA TRAUMATOLOGIA / F. DELITALA – R. ZANOLI”.
