Dorothy Snell’s Tomb

The tomb of Dorothy Snell can be found in the Area XIX (Vecchio Reparto, Riquadro 38) of the monumental cemetery of Verano in Rome.

The inscription reads as follows:

“DOROTHY A. SNELL F.B.C.N. / DOMINICAN TERTIARY / DIED OCT 20, 1932 / ON WHOSE SOUL SWEET JESUS / HAVE MERCY”

“FU PER 22 ANNI DIRETTRICE / DELLA SCUOLA CONVITTO REGINA ELENA / DI ROMA AL POLICLINICO UMBERTO I”
(She had been for 22 years the manageress of the nursing school “Regina Elena” at “Policlinico Umberto I” of Rome)

“INFIRMUS FUI ET VISITASTIS ME, MATTH 25.35”
(I was sick and you looked after me, Matth 25.35)
