Francesco Rizzoli’s Memorial Tablet

This memorial tablet, inside the Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli of Bologna, is probably the oldest memory of the legacy by the surgeon Francesco Rizzoli for the building of this renowned orthopedics hospital. It dates back to 1886, only six years after Rizzoli’s death, and ten years before the official inauguration of the complex.

The tablet is quite hidden in a corridor at the end of one of the old courtyards of the hospital, as you can see in the following picture:
