Giovanni Da Procida’s Mosaic

In Salerno’s Cathedral, walking the right nave, it is possible to reach the wonderful” Cappella di San Matteo” where there is a 13th century golden mosaic commissioned by Giovanni da Procida.

In the mosaic it is shown the effigy of the renowned physician, but the principal subject of the masterpiece is Saint Matthew, the patron Saint of Salerno, sitting on a throne.
