Giovanni Gorgone is buried in the Church of San Domenico, in Palermo (Piazza San Domenico), being a part of the so-called Pantheon of illustrious Sicilians. His funeral monument is placed in a chapel along the right nave of the church, and consists of a marble tablet with a long Italian inscription on it, which is almost illegible today, and surmounted by a bust of the scientist.
