Giuseppe Moscati’s Home

Saint Giuseppe Moscati lived at the third floor of this wretched house in Naples (Via Cisterna dell’Olio 10), from 1902 until his death in 19271. The main rooms of his house have been reconstructed in the Stanze Moscati in the nearby Church of the Gesù Nuovo where the saint’s burial is venerated.

In 2003, a marble memorial tablet has been placed on the house’s facade with the following italian inscription: “QUI VISSE E OPERO’ / DEDITO A FEDE CARITA’ E AMORE / PER IL MALATO E LA SCIENZA / L’INSIGNE MEDICO PROFESSORE / GIUSEPPE MOSCATI / 25.7.1880 12.4.1927 / PROCLAMATO SANTO IL 25.10.1987 / OGGI RIPOSA NELLA CHIESA DEL GESU’ NUOVO / IL COMUNE DI NAPOLI, L’ASSOCIAZIONE MEDICI CATTOLICI / “SAN LUCA” E L’ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO “DUCA D’AOSTA” / POSERO NELL’ANNO 2003″.
