Hostel for Municipal Nurses

The Municipal General Hospital entertained a nursing sisterhood of its own to break the tradition of confessional nursing staff, despite the proximity of e.g. the Diakonie Kaiserswerth. The organization followed the model of Red Cross sisterhoods but was deliberately independent. Apart from the hostel, nurses were usually accomodated in the attics of the old clinical buildings.
