John William Fisher’s Grave

This is the monument for John William Fisher, where his widow, Lilias Stuart, is buried too.

This epigraph is written on it:

“THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED/ IN/ AFFECTIONATE MEMORY OF/ SIR WILLIAM FISHER F.R.C.S./ BORN JANUARY 30th 1788/ DIED MARCH 22nd 1876/ […] FORTY FOUR YEARS SURGEON IN CHIEF TO THE METROPOLITAN POLICE FORCE./ FOR WE KNOW THAT IF OUR EARTHLY HOUSE OF/ […] TABERNACLE WERE DISSOLVED. WE HAVE A/ […] OF GOD AN HOUSE NOT MADE WITH HANDS/ […] IN THE HEAVENS./ ALSO OF HIS WIDOW/ LILIAS STURT,/ DAUGTHER OF COLONEL MACKENZIE/ OF GRUINARD, ROSS-SHIRE, N.B./ BORN JULY 13th 1823/ DIED SEPTEMBER 12th 1892/ […] WILL BE DONE.”
