This memorial tablet in honour of Marcello Malpighi can be seen in the entrance hall of the headquartes of the University of Messina (Piazza Pugliatti, 1).
The Latin text was composed by Italian poet Giovanni Pascoli in 1902 while the monument dates back to 1930. It remembers the teaching by Malpighi in this university, from 1672 to 1676. A bas-relief medallion portrays the scientist.
