Marsilio Ficino’s Portrait

This oil painting on wooden panel portrait of Marsilio Ficino belonged to the 16th Century collection of Paolo Giovio and is now displayed in the Renaissance section of the public art gallery of Volpi Palace in Como (via Diaz, 84). It was painted c. 1520 in Florence by some artist in the school of Andrea del Brescianino and it is clearly inspired by the portrait of Ficino made by Domenico Ghirlandaio for the Tornabuoni Chapel in Florence1.
