Medical Tools

These medical and surgical tools are preserved in the Archeological Museum of Bergama (Zafer, Cumhuriyet Cd. No:10).

They were used in surgical and herbal therapies during the times of the nearby Asclepieion of Pergamon. When necessary, surgical interventions, an exceptional practice in temple medicine, were performed, mostly on wounded gladiators, by skilled physicians.
