This rotating monument to the “Heroic Women” of Castiglione can be seen just in front of the church of Castiglione delle Stiviere (Piazza Duomo) where, from the 24th of June 1859, hundreds of wounded soldiers of the Battle of Solferino were assisted by the civil population – mainly women and girls -organized by Jean Henry Dunant. The monument has been donated by the local district of the National Association of Carabinieri.
