SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Following Cottolengo’s example, Pasquale Uva was intentioned to found in Southern Italy structures that could provide cure and medical assistance to people with mental deseases.
HIS BIRTHPLACE
Pasquale Uva was born in Bisceglie (Bari) on August 11, 1883 in Giovanni Bovio street, next to St. Augustine’s Church, from a modest farming family.

HIS STUDIES AND HIS RELIGIOUS CAREER
In 1895 entered the Seminary of Bisceglie, where he attended the gymnasium. He continued his education at the seminary of Benevento, Conversano and Trani. From 1904 to 1908 he stayed at Almo Collegio Capranica. During this period he graduated in theology and canon law at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana.

In 1906, in Bari, he received the priestly order. During 1907-1908 he read about the life and achievements of Giuseppe Benedetto Cottolengo and was really touched by it. In 1908 he was appointed coadjutor of Saint Adoneo’s parish in the diocese of Bisceglie.In 1910 he became the parish priest in St. Augustine, where he will rest until his death.

HIS DEATH
He died on September 13, 1955. He is buried in the Temple of Saint Joseph in Bisceglie.
