Pietro Busacchi’s Memorial Tablet

Pietro Busacchi was killed by the fascist militia on November 21, 1944, as a warning to the intellectuals of Bologna who had not wanted to join the new Italian Social Republic. After shooting him three times in the back of the head, the fascists put a note in his pocket that read: “Traitor to the democratic cause”. A memorial tablet remembers the spot of his murder in Bologna (at the crossroads between via Martini and via Busacchi).
