This marble monument of Pietro Torrigiano Rustichelli can be see, among many others, on the facade of Palazzo Valori-Altoviti (aka dei Visacci – of the ugly faces) in Florence (Borgo degli Albizi, 18).
On the basament, a Latin inscription remembers that Torrigiano was a Claudius Galen‘s annotator: “T[orrigianus?] MONACUS GALENI PLUS / QUAM INTERPRES FLOR / FLORUIT ANNO MCCXC”.
The monument already existed in 1664, as can be read in Philip Skippon’s Description of Florence1.
