Prospero Guidones Birthplace

Prospero Guidone was born on April 3, 1863 in this ancient palace called “Palazzo Guidone”, in Guardia Perticara (via Garibaldi), just a few meters from the old village centre.
This is where he spent most of his childhood before leaving his hometown to move to Potenza to complete his classical studies.
A careful examination of the keystone can lead you to find the Guidone’s family crest along with two Latin sentences:

“CUR VELOX SIGNI NON PRAECEPTA OPTIMA DISCE?”
“HOC FECIT/MENS SOLLERS/NICOLAI XAV. GUIDONE”
