This marble monument of Alexander von Humboldt can be seen in Berlin (Unter den Linden 6), just in front of Humboldt-Universität. It was sculpted in 1882-1883 by Reinhold Begas. In 1939, a Spanish inscription on behalf of the University of Havana was added to the pedestal reading as follows: “AL SEGUNDO DESCUBRIDOR DE CUBA / LA UNIVERSIDAD DE LA HABANA 1939”.
