This house, located in Cagli (Via Angelo Celli, 16) in the province of Pesaro-Urbino in Marche, is Angelo Celli‘s birthplace.
Angelo Celli, the youngest child of Cristoforo Celli and Teresa Amatori1, was born on 25th march 1857 and lived here with his family for nineteen years, until he moved to Rome.
The house is situated in a narrow street in Cagli’s old town centre which was named after him in 1920 as a sign of gratitude and regard.
In 1920, an epigraph dedicated to him was laid on the facade of the building by Carlo Carganico2 (president of the executive honorofic committee) which says:
“XXV MARZO MDCCCLVII / II NOVEMBRE MCMXIV / QUI NACQUE IL SOMMO IGIENISTA / ANGELO CELLI / CHE DELLA SCIENZA ATTINSE LE VETTE PIU’ ALTE / E I CONQUISTATI SEGRETI / A DIFFONDERE PER GLI UMILI ASSIDUAMENTE OPERO’ / XII SETTEMBRE MCMXX”
