The basilica of Santo Stefano Rotondo can be found on the Celian Hill in Rome (via Santo Stefano Rotondo, 7). It is dedicated to Saint Stephen, the Christian first martyr, and Stephen I, the first king of Hungary. The Basilica was built between 468 and 483, but all the originale mosaics and marmoreal decorations have been lost. It was later refurbished in the Middle Ages.
Juan de Lugo, who promoted an anti-malarian treatment extracted from the Chincona’s barks, was a Cardinal Priest of this church in 1644.
