Christiaan Barnard 1969 by Giacomo Manzu

This bronze head of Christiaan Barnard was sculpted by Italian artist Giacomo Manzù about 1969 and is now on display in the house-museum of Manzù1 in Ardea (via Laurentina km. 32). Barnard visited the collection of Manzù just a few months after his famous first heart transplant. A copy of the bust is preserved in the Barnard Collection in Capetown2.
