This plaster bas-relief of Florence Nightingale tenderly caring for a wounded soldier can be seen in the chapel of St Thomas Hospital where she founded her renowned nursing school. It is a work made in 1917 by British sculptor Arthur George Walker1 and it is virtually identical to the one in the crypt of St Paul’s Cathedral, except for the shape of the alabaster frame and of the sculptor’s signature.
