Francesco Durante’s Monument

This bronze bust of Francesco Durante – very similar to the one erected in his hometown (probably by the same Author, Ettore Ximenes) – can be seen in the first floor of the original Clinica Chirurgica (surgical clinic) of the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome, just in front of the entrance to the main hall of the Institute.

On the marble pedestal there is this Italian inscription: “A / FRANCESCO DURANTE / PER XLVI ANNI / MAESTRO DI CHIRURGIA / IN QUESTO ATENEO / VI GIUGNO MCMXIX / GLI ALLIEVI”.
