Francesco Lastaria’s Hospital

After the closure of the Old “Ospedale Santa Maria delle Grazie”, on the 13th of December 1963, a new hospital was inaugurated by the known doctor Antonio Centore.
The new hospital is in honour of the great surgeon Francesco Lastaria (1860-1948), who was chosen -as Centore said-, “not only to inherit from him only the name, but also the fruits of his work, the brillians of his character, the boldness of his temperament, the force of his personality”1.

Over the years there have been several changes in the structure of the hospital; you can see the “Modern Lastaria” in these pictures:
