This memorial tablet in honour of Giovanni Alfonso Borelli can be seen in the entrance hall of the headquartes of the University of Messina (Piazza Pugliatti, 1).
The Latin text was composed by Italian poet Giovanni Pascoli in 1902 while the monument dates back to 1930. It remembers the teaching by Borelli in this university, from 1639 to 1656. A bas-relief medallion portrays the scientist.
