Gordon Hamilton Fairley’s Memorial Tablet

This round tablet to the memory of Gordon Hamilton-Fairley can be found in the northern aisle wall at the east end of the Crypt of St Paul’s Cathedral in London, just above the Alexander Fleming’s one.

The inscription reads as follows: “GORDON / HAMILTON-FAIRLEY / DM FRCP / FIRST PROFESSOR OF MEDICAL ONCOLOGY / 1930-1975 / KILLED BY A TERRORIST BOMB / It matters not how a man dies / but how he lives“.
