This double marble monument of Johann von Oppolzer and of his son Theodor, astronomer, was created by sculptor Viktor Tilgner (1844-1896) and unveiled on May 18, 1890 among the medical monuments that can be found in the arcaded courtyard of the University of Vienna (Universitätsring, 1).
