A memorial tablet in Vienna (Alser Strasse, 20) remembers the site where the house of Theodor Billroth stood until 1906. The tablet was placed by the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Chirurgie (Austrian Society for Surgery) in 1981, centennial of the first successful gastrectomy by Billroth.
