Ettore Castronovo’s Tomb

The tomb of Ettore Castronovo can be found at the entrance to the Monumental Cemetery of Messina (Via Catania). On the surface of black granite, we see two large, white marble hands trying to open a gash. These are the same hands which radiologist Ettore Castronovo sacrified, the outward sign of martyrdom of the eminent scholar and a symbol of that incessant research that accompanied him up to his death.
