The Italian physician Ludovico Settala moved with his large family in a mansion in Milan (via Pantano, 26), during the last years of his life. The mansion became famous for its splendid library but it was destroyed hereafter. Settala is remembered by Alessandro Manzoni (The Betrothed, Chapter XXXI) as “one of the most active and intrepid doctors” during the plague of 1576 in Milan.
