Gabriele Falloppia’s Tomb

In the Magnolia or Chapter Courtyard of Saint Anthony’s Basilica, in Padua, a memorial tablet remembers the burial site of Gabriele Falloppia, as well as the one of Melchiorre Guilandino.

On the quite dirty tablet, the following latin inscription can be read: “HIC / SEPULTA FUERUNT OSSA / GABRIELIS FALLOPPII + 1562 / ET / MELCHIORIS GUILANDINI + 1589 / HORTUS PATAVINUS / TANTORUM VIRORUM MEMOR ET GRATUS / P.[OSUIT] MCMII”.
