Alexander Fleming Memorial Tablet

In Rome, in the pavilion dedicated to tropical diseases of the Istituto Nazionale Malattie Infettive – Ospedale Spallanzani, there is a memorial tablet dedicated to Sir Alexander Fleming.
In fact, as this hospital is the national centre for treating infectious diseases, it was an obvious tribute to the english scientist, who discovered penicillin. Moreover, this hospital was one of the first in Italy to adopt pharmacological terapies with the use of antibiotics like penicillin in the 50’s.1.
