This oil-on-canvas portrait of Francesco Paiola can be seen in the Sala del Bibliotecario (librarian room) on the first floor of the Scuola Grande di San Marco, Venice. It was painted by Pietro Longhi between 1780 and 17851.
Paiola holds in his left hand a copy of the influential treatise on lithotomy by Claude-Nicolas Le Cat, while in his right hand he has the lithotome he invented.
