Ethel Gordon Fenwick’s Home

As remembered by a Blue Plaque, Ethel Gordon Fenwick lived in this house of London (20 Upper Wimpole Street) from 1887 to 1924.

In 1887, she “founded the British Nurses’ Association, in her drawing room at 20 Upper Wimpole Street, W.1., as a breakaway group from The Hospitals Association, which was not proceeding fast enough on the road to Registration to please her. In 1893 the Association obtained a Royal Charter”1.
