A big marble statue of clinician and surgeon Luigi Porta has been erected in a yard (“Cortile delle Statue”) of the old buildings of the University of Pavia (at N.65 of the central “Strada Nuova”), next to those of Camillo Golgi and Bartolomeo Panizza.
On the basament, there is the following inscription in Italian language: “LUIGI PORTA PAVESE / SENATORE DEL REGNO / PROFESSORE PER OLTRE OTTO LUSTRI / DI CLINICA E MEDICINA OPERATIVA / IN QUESTO ATENEO / CITTADINO AMANTISSIMO DELL’ITALIA / MEMBRO DI ACCADEMIE NAZIONALI E STRANIERE / FONDATORE DEL MUSEO PORTA / AUTORE DI MOLTE OPERE SCIENTIFICHE / NELLE QUALI / E NELLA ISTRUZIONE DELLA GIOVENTU ITALIANA / HA CONSUMATO UNA VITA DI 75 ANNI / MORENDO LEGAVA IL SUO AVERE ALLA PATRIA / IN PEGNO DI AFFETTO E DI GRATITUDINE”.
