Maternity Memorial Tablet

In the Istituto Ostetrico-Ginecologico “Luigi Mangiagalli” of Milan, just on the right of the entrance hall, this elegant marble bas-relief about “Maternity” has been placed in memory of the founder of the Institute, Luigi Mangiagalli.

On the basament, an italian inscription on black marble reads as follows: “PER TUTTE LE MADRI RISANATE PER TUTTI I BIMBI / RESTITUITI ALLA VITA MILANO VUOLE RICORDATO E / BENEDETTO LUIGI MANGIAGALLI / XVIII GIUGNO MDCCCL III LUGLIO MCMXXVIII” (“On account of all the mothers restored to health, of all the children handed back to life, Milan wants Luigi Mangiagalli being remembered and blessed. 18 June 1850 – 3 July 1928”).
