Inside the Facultade de Medicina e Odontoloxía of the University of Santiago de Compostela, there is a bas-relief dedicated to José María David Súarez Núñez, who served as rector and professor of Anatomy and Stomatology.
The plaque, made of bronze, rests on a rectangular granite base. At the center of the relief is a profile of Súarez Núñez, while at the top, framed by volutes, appears the symbol of Medicine: the Rod of Asclepius with a coiled serpent. Below the portrait, an inscription reads:
“AL PROF. / Dr. DN. JM. SUAREZ NUÑEZ / CATEDRATICO DE / ANATOMIA Y ESTOMATOLOGIA / Y RECTOR QUE FUE DE LA / UNIVERSIDAD GALLEGA 1932-1987”
“To Prof. / Dr. DN. JM. Suarez Nuñez / Professor of /Anatomy and Stomatology / and Rector of the / galician University 1932–1987”
The relief is signed in the lower left corner by the sculptor Manuel Bonome Abeledo. This work honors the academic and teaching career of Súarez Núñez at the university.
