Louis Stromeyer’s Monument

This statue honors Louis Stromeyer, one of the most influential German surgeons of the 19th century and a pioneer in orthopedic surgery. The statue can be seen in the city center of Hanover, it is located in Georgstrasse, near the Opera House.

The base of the statue usually bears the dates of his birth and death (1804–1876) and sometimes brief inscriptions highlighting his pioneering work in tendon surgery and traumatology.
