The Hof Apotheke in Bamberg, located in the historic center of Bamberg (Karolinenstrasse 20).
Its origins date back to the 15th century (1437), when it served as the court pharmacy of the prince-bishops .
As indicated by its name (“Hofapotheke” meaning “court pharmacy”), it played a central role in supplying medicines to the ecclesiastical and administrative elite.
Today, the Hofapotheke is considered a site of great importance for the history of medicine and pharmacy.
Situated within Bamberg’s UNESCO-listed old town, the Hofapotheke also contributes to the city’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
