Sebastian Kneipp’s Monument

The monument dedicated to Sebastian Kneipp stands in the main square of Bad Worishofen (Denkmalpl. 2), right in the heart of the town that made his name famous.

The statue portrays Kneipp in his priestly robes, standing upright with a calm and dignified presence. His facial expression reflects his role as both a spiritual guide and a pioneer of natural healing, while his posture conveys serenity and determination. The monument rests on a solid stone pedestal, often featuring commemorative inscriptions that highlight his contribution to natural medicine and the development of water therapy. It is located in the monument square and was unveiled on August 9, 1903. The monument is the work of the Munich sculptor Georg Albertshofer and is a listed building.The base of the copper-embossed figure is made of shell limestone1.

On the front is a copper plate with the inscription SEBASTIAN KNEIPP / 1821–1897. On the opposite side is the inscription Steinausführung / Alois Aufleger / Munich 1903. The figure of Sebastian Kneipp rises on the pedestal on a base plate. This base plate has inscriptions on its sides. To the north is MODELLIERT VON / GEORG ALBERTSHOFER MÜNCHEN and to the south in kupfer treiben / von Xaver abt mindelheim.
