Kernerhaus was the family house of Justinus Kerner and his son Theobald Kerner in Weinsberg (Öhringer Str. 3).
Built in 1822 by Justinus, the district physician and Romantic poet of Weinsberg, the house was constructed on land provided free of charge by the town of Weinsberg. In 1827, a wooden extension in the style of a Swiss chalet was added to the west side. Theobald and his wife Else had the current stairwell added in the 1880s and undertook renovations to the interior. In 1907, Theobald Kerner’s widow, Else, sold the house to the Justinus Kerner Society of Weinsberg. Since 1908, it has been a museum and is a listed building, recognized as an important memorial to Swabian Romanticism1.
