A memorial tablet in the church of San Paolo al Monte, aka Chiesa dell’Osservanza, in Bologna, remembers Luigi Galvani entering the Third Order, Society of Saint Francis, in 1779.
The tablet – which can be seen just entering the church, on the right – precisely states: “QUI / ADDI 26 MAGGIO 1779 / LUIGI GALVANI / SCOPRITORE / DELL’ELETTRICITA’ ANIMALE / S’ASCRISSE AL TERZ’ORDINE / DI S. FRANCESCO / E NE FECE LA PROFESSIONE / IL 19 GIUGNO 1780”.
