This stone and bronze statue of Antonio Egas Moniz stands in front of the Hospital de Santa Maria in Lisbon (Avenida Professor Egas Moniz). The about 3.75 m tall statue represents Egas Moniz wearing his full professor academic gown. It is a work of Portuguese sculptor Euclides Vaz (1916-1991) and dates back from 1974, thus celebrating the birth centenary of the father of psychosurgery.
