Pazo De Vaamonde

At number 59 on Rúa do Vilar, in Santiago de Compostela, stands the Pazo de Vaamonde. It is an 18th-century building that once served as the residence of Dr. Joaquín Vaamonde Rodríguez, a pioneer of radiology in Galicia. The doctor lived in this house from October 1929 until his death on March 17, 1947.1

After his death, the property remained in the hands of his family until it was acquired by the Ministry of Culture in 1989. The institution later granted its use to the Consortium of Santiago, and today the building continues to serve as the organization’s headquarters.
