The portrait of Robert Liston is preserved in The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. It was created in 1847 by a British artist called Samuel John Stump. The oil painting has dimensions (90.5×70 cm).1
Sir William Fergusson’s son about this portrait said: “Many years ago, my late father, Sir Wm Fergusson, pointing to two portraits in his dining room in London, expressed a wish that, in the event of his death and my surviving him, I should present these portraits to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh…. One is a portrait of Robert Liston by Stump and the other Dr Monro.“2
